iRFID - Idhasoft Radio Frequency Identification

Idhasoft radio frequency identification is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. A RFID tag can be applied to or incorporated into a person for the purpose of identification using radio waves. RFID enables healthcare facilities improve overall safety and operational efficiency because it operates without line-of-sight while providing read/write capabilities for dynamic item tracking.

iRFiD Usage

Patient Care - Patients are issued a wristband with an integrated RFID chip, in which are stored their name, date of admission and patient number. Other details of the patient are kept in an electronic file on the central database server. Using mobile devices, the doctors can access all the medical data, such as case history, diagnoses, lab reports, allergy results or x-rays, via the patient number and WLAN at any time.

Patients, especially the elderly or those suffering from some diseases, are often at risk when they wander while under care. With a visibility system, staff can receive an immediate alert if a patient leaves their room or enters an unauthorized area. In addition, accurate patient location can serve as a centralized form of identification, ensuring that the right patient is treated in the right place at the right time.

Patients tagged with unique codes, reduce or eliminate medical errors such as the administration of the wrong medication or surgical procedure.

In psychiatric facilities and other high-risk wards, staff often needs immediate assistance. By associating an emergency with a staff member's accurate location, hospitals can shave valuable seconds or even minutes off the time it takes to get help where it is most needed.

Blood Bank Identification - On arrival at the hospital, each blood bag is given a tag with an appropriate code. This code corresponds to an entry in a secure database detailing the origin, purpose and recipient. When the nurse takes the bag containing the blood donation to the patient, she reads the chips on both the package and the patient's RFID armband with a PDA, and will only administer the blood if the data matches.

Inventory Management - Helps in efficient purchase process and prevents theft or loss

Asset Management - Can be attached to assets ranging from bed facilities, IV pumps, surgical equipment, to wheel chairs, for easy location and tracking.
